Cervical Screening/Smear Test/Pap Test
Cervical smear test is a quick, reliable and easy screening which can detect abnormal cells very early on. In the UK, the test is free and offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64.
The abnormal cells may turn into cancer of the neck of the womb if not treated in their early stages. We now test all cervical smears for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which has been found to be one of the causes of cervical cancer.
Regular smear tests can prevent cervical cancer so it is very important to have one done. Please call us to book, and visit NHS.UK to find out what happens at a cervical screening.
