There are many medications that do not need a prescription from your GP. For more information click here.
Electronic Prescription Service is a convenient and efficient way of sending prescriptions electronically to any pharmacy of your choice and convenience.
It is easy to choose the pharmacy where your prescriptions are sent. To do this you can go to the pharmacy of your choice and sign up with them or alternatively you can manage your nominated pharmacies via SystmOnline, please ask reception for your personal log in details to be able to do this.
You can request your repeat medications via SystmOnline and due to EPS they will be sent directly to your nominated pharmacy (providing your medication review is not overdue and you are not overusing the medication).
This service is perfect for those who don't want to visit their GP practice for every prescription and those who regularly collect medicine from the same pharmacy.
If you are requesting online please allow up to 48 hours for your prescription to be ready at your nominated pharmacy, this is also the case if you request them directly at the Health Centre. The only time there isn't a 48 hour wait for your prescription is if you request them between 11:00-13:30 at the Health Centre.
Please ask at reception for further information about EPS.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
From 1 April 2018, the charges are:
- Prescription (per item): £8.80
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
- 3-month PPC: £29.10
- If you will need to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
The charge for a single prescription item is £8.80, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £29.10 and a 12 month PPC £104.00.
