Womens Health & Contraception

Contraception

Our Practice Nurses are family planning trained and are able to advise on all aspects of reproductive and sexual health including birth control pills, IUCDs (contraceptive coils), diaphragms, contraceptive patch & injections, implants & the contraceptive vaginal ring. Contraceptive implants and coils (copper IUD and Mirena IUS) can also be fitted at the Health Centre.

All contraception including barrier methods for safer sex are available free of charge.

They can also be obtained free from any Family Planning centre. To find a Family Planning clinic click here.

Cervical Screening

In the UK, cervical smear tests (or pap smears) are offered to all women between the ages of 25 and 65 years of age. We recommend that all women have a cervical smear every 3 years. Over the age of 50 recalls are every five years.

For more information on Cervical Screening please click here.

If you have had a smear test abroad or privately please let us have a copy of the result so that we can update your records and allow the national screening office to send you appropriate recall reminders. You can send it to us at kingscollegehc@nhs.net or drop it into the reception team.
